چکیده

The ring structure is important for distributed computing, and it is useful to construct a hamiltonian cycle or rings of various length in the network. Kanevsky and Feng [3] proved that all cycles of length l where 6 ≤ l ≤ n!−2 or l = n! can be embedded in the pancake graphs Gn. Later, Senoussi and Lavault [9] presented the embedding of ring of length l, 3 ≤ l ≤ n!, with dilation 2 in the pancake graphs Gn. These results prompt us to explore the possibility of embedding a cycle of length n!−1 into Gn, and to establish some topological properties of the pancake graphs. In this paper, we prove that there exists a hamiltonian path joining any two nodes of the pancake graph Gn. And we show that the pancake graph still has a hamiltonian cycle in the presence of one faulty node. As a consequence, a cycle of length n!−1 can be embedded in Gn. And we expand Kanevsky and Feng’s result as follows: For n ≥ 4, a cycle of length l can be embedded in the pancake graph Gn where 6 ≤ l ≤ n!. ∗Correspondence to: Assistant Professor Jyh-Jian Sheu, Department of Information Management, National Dong Hwa University, Hualien, Taiwan, R.O.C. e-mail: [email protected].

Embedding of Meshes on Rotator Graphs

PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL PDCL Abstract { A set of directed permutation graphs called rotator graphs were proposed as an alternative to the star and pancake graphs for multiprocessor interconnection networks. The rotator graphs have a smaller diameter than star and pancake graphs for the same number of nodes, while sharing the...

Embedding hypercubes into pancake, cycle prefix and substring reversal networks

Among Cayley graphs on the symmetric group, some that have noticeably low diameter relative to the number of generators involved are the pancake network, burnt pancake network, and cycle prefix network [1,6,7,8]. Another such Cayley graph is the star network, and constructions have been given for one-to-one and one-tomany low dilation embeddings of hypercubes into star networks [11,12,15]. For ...

An Algorithm for Node-Disjoint Paths in Pancake Graphs

For any pair of distinct nodes in an n-pancake graph, we give an algorithm for construction of n − 1 internally disjoint paths connecting the nodes in the time complexity of polynomial order of n. The length of each path obtained and the time complexity of the algorithm are estimated theoretically and verified by computer simulation. key words: pancake graphs, node-to-node disjoint paths proble...

Node-to-Set Disjoint Paths Problem in Pancake Graphs

In this paper, we give an algorithm for the nodeto-set disjoint paths problem in pancake graphs with its evaluation results. The algorithm is of polynomial order of n for an n-pancake graph. It is based on recursion and divided into two cases according to the distribution of destination nodes in classes into which all the nodes in a pancake graph are categorized. The sum of lengths of paths obt...

Optimal Information Dissemination in Star and Pancake Networks

This paper presents a new decomposition technique for hierarchical Cayley graphs. This technique yields a very easy implementation of the divide & conquer paradigm for weak order problems on very complex architectures as the Star graph or the Pancake. As applications, we introduce asymptotically optimal algorithms for Broadcasting, Gossiping, and Semigroup operations for such interconnection ne...
